Christmas Vacation Rentals in the Hamptons
Christmas 2026 in the Hamptons is the quiet version of the place everyone knows from summer: village trees lit up on Main Street, empty ocean beaches for a cold morning walk and a full house with a fire going when you get back. Our Hamptons homes sit in and around Southampton and Shinnecock Hills, roughly two to three hours from Midtown Manhattan.
The listings below only show the homes that are still open for Christmas week 2026 and for New Year’s Eve, so what you see is what you can actually book for the 2026 holidays. Several have indoor fireplaces, a few add a private hot tub, and the bigger houses sleep the whole family under one roof. Winter is also the quietest and most affordable time of year out here, which makes the 2026 holiday season a smart time to finally plan that Hamptons Christmas. Not sure which house fits your group? Our guide to where to stay in the Hamptons for Christmas compares five of our homes and helps you choose a village.

My family came from California and had a wonderful experience staying here. Our hostess Linda was wonderful, providing us with beach chairs, a beautiful location to go to the beach and was very efficient in any questions that we had. The place was beautiful, clean and very peaceful. We loved the location too!

This house is exactly as described! The house is in prime location, clean and private from neighbors. The layout and room sizes were perfect for myself and 11 other guests. Management was very easy to work with an answered all questions extremely promptly! Cannot say enough good things about this house, would definitely stay again!

Southampton Pool Home Near Village & Shinnecock
We had a wonderful week at this rental. The location is very convenient to get around the Hampton (Sage Harbor, South Hampton, Water Mill and Cooper Beach). Though it is located in the residential area, the backyard is very private with a wonderful set up for the hot tub and the pool. Linda, our property manager) was very responsive and was very attentive to our requests. Overall, we had a great time.
Holiday Events Near Our Hamptons Homes 2026
The villages keep their own holiday traditions, and most of them are free. Here is what to expect between Thanksgiving 2026 and New Year’s 2027, with each event’s expected 2026 date. For the full calendar, Christmas lights and things to do, see our Christmas in the Hamptons 2026 guide.
Southampton Village opens the season on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, expected November 28, 2026, with Shop Local Saturday, the Parade of Lights around 4:30 p.m., a tree lighting in Agawam Park around 5:30 p.m. and fireworks after. Confirm on the village’s website. Most of our Southampton homes are a short drive from the village, so you can stay for the fireworks and still be home by the fire early.
Sag Harbor lights up the windmill on Long Wharf to open its holiday season, expected Friday, December 4, 2026, at about 5 p.m., in a free event run by the Sag Harbor Chamber of Commerce. Main Street’s shops and restaurants are right there, which makes it easy to turn the lighting into an evening out.
East Hampton’s Santa Fest is expected on Saturday, December 5, 2026: Santa arrives by helicopter at 11 a.m., the parade rolls down Main Street at noon and the village tree at Herrick Park is lit at 5 p.m. It is free and about as classic as a small-town Christmas gets on the South Fork.
Cooper’s Beach in Southampton and the ocean beaches along Dune Road are almost empty in December, which is exactly why a cold, bright morning walk there is one of the best parts of a Hamptons Christmas. Bring layers, because the wind off the Atlantic means business, and plan on hot coffee back at the house afterward.
New Year’s Eve out here is about a long dinner, not a crowd. Village restaurants fill up early for December 31, so reserve as soon as your stay is set, or keep it simple and cook in: a big kitchen and a fireplace make the house the best table in town. If you want to start the year outside, New York State Parks hosts First Day Hikes on Friday, January 1, 2027.

Frequently Asked Questions About Hamptons Christmas Rentals
Winter is the quiet season, which is the point. You can catch the village holiday traditions (Southampton’s Parade of Lights on November 28, Sag Harbor’s windmill lighting on December 4 and East Hampton’s Santa Fest on December 5, all expected for 2026), walk empty ocean beaches, browse Main Street shops and galleries, and book long dinners at restaurants that stay open year-round. Then come back to a fireplace and a full kitchen.
Cool and calm, and December 2026 should be no different. Temperatures usually run between 30 and 45°F, the summer crowds are gone and nightly rates are the lowest of the year. The villages are decorated for the holidays, and many restaurants and shops stay open, though some cut their winter hours, so check before you go.
Many are, especially in the larger villages like Southampton, Sag Harbor and East Hampton, while some seasonal spots close or shorten their hours. For Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, reserve well ahead. Cooking in is a great option too, since our homes come with full kitchens and plenty of room around the table.
Plan on roughly 2 to 3 hours by car from Midtown Manhattan, depending on traffic, which is usually lighter in winter than in summer. The Long Island Rail Road also runs direct service to several Hamptons villages if you would rather skip the drive.
