Vacation Rentals in Laurel, NY
Nestled between Mattituck and Jamesport along the quieter middle stretch of the North Fork, Laurel is the kind of hamlet that rewards people who prefer to discover a place rather than be directed to it. A residential enclave within the Town of Southold, it sits close enough to both the Long Island Sound and Peconic Bay to feel genuinely surrounded by water, without the noise that follows more well-known destinations.
What makes Laurel special is its position. It borrows from everything around it without being defined by any of it. Love Lane in Mattituck is minutes away for coffee, dinner, or a slow browse through independent shops. The wine trail runs right through the surrounding area. Laurel Lake sits tucked in the interior, calm and largely undiscovered by anyone who isn’t local. And Sound Avenue, one of Long Island’s great farm stand roads, connects it all. If you’ve been looking for a North Fork base that feels like a find, Laurel is it.
What Guests Are Saying About Their Laurel Stay
North Fork Oasis: Heated Pool, Hot tub
If my house has a yard like this one, I would never leave home. The heated pool was fantastic in mid-September, as was the hot tub. The house was clean and well-furnished. It had everything we needed for an amazing stay. Also, so much to do on the north fork. We didn’t make it to a vineyard this time, but there were many less than 5 minutes away. We golfed, stopped in Greenport and Southold and Mattituck. Overall, just a really nice relaxing trip. We hope to be back next year!

Nice social house with a large backyard and modern appliances. Walking distance to beach, winery… great for a social gathering, BBQ dinner, hangout by the open fireplace. The basement is equipped with a pool table and the house in general is suitable for groups or families of all ages.

Wow what a beautiful home, location 10 out of 10, was literally within 5 mins from the vineyards, great restaurants, bagel stores, coffee and directly across the street from the great Peconic bay. So peaceful and serene, with all the best amenities and plenty of space for my entire party! Rain or shine this house is ideal for a group of girls friends, family with children, a couples weekend, it’s an A++ Would love to come back on the summer and be able to enjoy the beautiful pool in the huge backyard. But the hot tub we were able to use and it was perfect and the sleep afterwards divine, like a happy baby

Your Laurel Experience Starts Here
Between Laurel Lake, the wine trail, Love Lane, and the water on both sides, days here tend to fill up on their own. The North Fork’s best is close in every direction, and Laurel puts you right in the middle of it.
One of the North Fork’s best-kept freshwater secrets, Laurel Lake sits quietly in the interior of the hamlet and offers a completely different kind of water experience than the bay or Sound. It’s peaceful, scenic, and a welcome change of pace for guests who want to kayak, fish, or simply sit near still water with a book. Early mornings here have a particular quality that’s hard to describe and easy to remember.
Laurel’s position between the Long Island Sound and Peconic Bay means the water is never far in any direction. Head north for the Sound’s open energy and rocky shoreline, or south toward the bay’s calm shallows, ideal for paddleboarding and clamming. Mattituck Creek, just minutes away, is one of the North Fork’s most scenic inlets and a popular launch point for kayakers. After a full day out, your Luxury Beach Getaway home is exactly the right place to rinse off and settle in for the evening.
Laurel sits in the heart of North Fork wine country with exceptional access to tasting rooms in every direction. Shinn Estate Vineyards is right in the hamlet itself, one of the most respected producers on the entire trail. Bedell Cellars and Pellegrini Vineyards are just minutes east in Cutchogue, and the trail continues in both directions from there. Spend an afternoon working your way through tasting rooms, or pick one vineyard, find a spot on the lawn, and treat it as a destination rather than a stop. Either way, bring something back to your Luxury Beach Getaway home for the evening.
Just minutes from Laurel, Mattituck’s Love Lane is one of the North Fork’s most charming small-town streets and well worth building a morning or evening around. Independent coffee shops, wine and cheese spots, and a handful of excellent restaurants make it the kind of place you end up returning to more than once during a stay. It rounds out the quieter pace of Laurel perfectly without ever feeling like too much.
