East Hampton Duck Pond

Beautiful 24-acre nature trail in East Hampton, known as the “Duck Pond,” home to diverse waterfowl and wooded walking paths.

Tucked off David’s Lane in East Hampton Village, the Duck Pond Nature Trail spans 24 acres of serene woodland and marshland. Originally a private Japanese garden gifted to the community in the 1940s, it now welcomes wildlife and visitors year-round. A resident flock of ducks—including colorful wood ducks—flourishes at Hook Pond, which never fully freezes in winter. Visitors are invited to feed the waterfowl responsibly with poultry feed or cracked corn. The dirt trails form a gentle 0.8-mile loop—past wooden footbridges, quiet marsh spots, and benches—making it ideal for families, nature lovers, and anyone seeking peaceful outdoors time. Designed to be stroller-accessible and dog-friendly (on leash), it’s a relaxing stop that feels worlds away yet remains just minutes from East Hampton Village. This lovely nature outing pairs beautifully with a stay at one of our Luxury Beach Getaway properties in East Hampton, providing restorative coastal luxury after a day immersed in local ecology.
